Amazon Makes Alexa Plus Free for All Fire TV Owners
Amazon is dropping the paywall on Alexa Plus for Fire TV users in the US. Starting now, anyone with a Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Cube, Amazon Ember smart TV, or a partner TV with Alexa Plus built in (including select Panasonic and Hisense models) gets access to the upgraded assistant at no extra cost.
Alexa Plus previously required a Prime membership or a standalone subscription to unlock on Fire TV. The free rollout removes that barrier, giving users mood-based movie recommendations, the ability to jump to specific scenes by description, and answers to questions about what's currently on screen. It can also tie into connected smart home devices for voice control while you watch.
The move signals Amazon's push to get its more conversational, LLM-powered assistant in front of as many households as possible ahead of the holiday shopping and streaming season.
